Web Guardians™

Having been almost fatally injured in the 7/7 tube bombings in London in 2005, Sajda was determined to understand what had led these young men to carry out such a horrific attack and she made it her life’s mission to prevent similar attacks happening. After spending several years researching Internet Extremism, we published our pioneering report on our findings in 2012, entitled ‘Internet Extremism: Working Towards a Community Solution’.

Before we launched the Web Guardians™ programme in 2010, we consulted with Muslim women who use our centre and services from our decades of grassroots work. We discovered their needs and developed the programme. Web Guardians™ is the first of its kind, educating and empowering Muslim women and mothers to prevent and tackle online extremism, building community resilience.
