JAN Trust shortlisted for the National Diversity Awards 2015

JAN Trust is delighted to have been shortlisted for The National Diversity Award 2015 in the category ‘Community Organisation for Gender’. This prestigious honour celebrates the achievement of grass-root communities’ organisations in their work to tackle the issues in today’s society.

The results will be announced during a black tie event held at the Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral on September 18th 2015, where charities and role models from across the UK will gather to attend the ceremony.

This nomination rewards the hard work of our staff, trustees and volunteers in tackling poverty, discrimination, abuse and social exclusion amongst BAMER women.  JAN Trust works with marginalised, vulnerable and hard-to-reach women and communities, often overlooked by other agencies, in order to encourage integration and create positive and active citizens of society. That’s why it’s extremely important for us that the work of grassroots charities such as JAN Trust is acknowledged.

With limited funding and resources available, JAN Trust continue nearly three decades on to deliver vital work and services led by a strong passion to empower disadvantaged women and to strive until their needs are met. JAN Trust has been growing rapidly since its inception in 1989 and we are proud to have engaged with over 70,000 women and 20,000 youth from over 80 ethnicities.

Sajda Mughal, Managing Director of JAN Trust said:

“We are honoured to be nominated and shortlisted for the National Diversity Awards 2015 for the category Community Organisation Gender. We deliver our much needed services on a very limited budget and being shortlisted for this award has provided a real sense of achievement. Thank you to all our supporters”
