Statement: London Attacks

London Bridge Terrorist Attack

Statement from Jan Trust and 7/7 Survivor Sajda Mughal OBE:

We are appalled and angered by the attacks last night in London Bridge that have killed 7 people and hurt many more.

These attacks last night are an attack on us all. We cannot let this defeat us in anyway and we must all stand up together to not let the terrorists divide us. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the victims.

We would like to thank our emergency services in responding to the attacks very quickly and preventing further deaths and injuries.

Sajda Mughal, Muslim 7/7 survivor said:
“Within 3 months we have faced 3 terrorist attacks that have targeted innocent civilians including our children. Our Prime Minister today in her speech mentioned tackling the spaces that extremists operate including the internet and the need to work with families, home and online. From our work, we are fully aware that is an issue and have been working in preventing and tackling online extremism with Muslim mothers for the last 7 years. A whole community approach is needed and that includes strengthening support for this type of work to continue.”
