JAN Trust : Empowering and Providing Leadership for Women through training, enterprise and IT

aims & objectives

JAN Trust aims to empower women giving them the opportunity to tackle and overcome the barriers to inclusion which are identified by women themselves as lack of English languages skills; lack of opportunities to train in culturally appropriate settings; inability to access employment opportunities; lack of official status in the country; immigration issues; poverty; poor housing; isolation; depression racism and discrimination (including religious discrimination); abusive homes; family breakdown and a lack of family support and structure.

We have developed the services to clients of the organisation focusing on social; educational; training; employment; health; human rights; childcare and support measures in order to promote self confidence and self esteem leading to enhanced aspirations, community cohesion and cultural harmony.

JAN Trust is a truly global community with users of all ages and cultures. Over 32 different languages are spoken by users and staff.

We recognise the barriers these women face in gaining language skills and confidence, accessing employment and moving out of poverty. We see JAN Trust's services as making an important contribution to improving the lives of the most vulnerable women in our borough and look forward to working with JAN Trust for many years to come."
